Motor Division

In addition to it's Road Patrol, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office also maintains a separate group of motorcycle officers. The Sheriff's Motor Division is made up of two units: the regular full time motor deputies and the reserve motor unit deputies. Both units work seamlessly together on all events that require the special skills of a motorcycle officer. Events such as traffic control & enforcement, parades, presidential & dignitary motorcades, large crowd control events such as 4th of July Fireworks shows, car cruises, extra patrols on Halloween and "Angel" night are just a small sample of the many applications of this unique alternative to a patrol car.

The Reserve Motor Unit is comprised of volunteers who are deputized after receiving training in such areas as firearms, law, communications, report writing, first aid, and of course advanced motorcycle skills. These volunteers are dedicated individuals mostly from the tri-county area who want to give something back to their community and at the same time enjoy motorcycling.

All of their equipment, uniforms, radios, as well as their Harley-Davidson Motorcycles are purchased and maintained on their own. This volunteerism translates into thousands of man-hours per year, at no cost to the taxpayers of Macomb County.
