The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is using a Macomb Township home as a purported rendezvous spot to arrest men who think they are going to a sexual encounter with underage girls they met on the Internet.

Sheriff Mark Hackel said Friday that the home, which is less than a mile from his own residence, has been used to make three arrests in the past two weeks.

Men from Lincoln Park, Warren and Ypsilanti were arrested. Each faces charges including sexually abusive activity and accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Mike Rizzo, owner of Express Builders, donated a model home for the operation, Hackel said. Reserve officers posing as young girls in online chats set up meetings at the home. When the suspects arrive, they are met by three to five arresting officers.

Hackel, who got the idea of using private homes from NBC-TV's Dateline news magazine program, said several home builders have volunteered use of single-family residences. He said going public with the information puts suspects on notice that they may get caught.

They need to know that there are cops out there, Hackel said.
