Lieutenant Zimny is currently assigned to the Administrative
Jail Lieutenant position.
The primary focus of this position is to examine options of relieving jail
overcrowding. This includes innovative ways of reducing jail inmate population
and the feasibility of increasing jail bed space.
Other responsibilities of this position include: Overseeing Jail
Inspections/Accreditation, Mental Health Services,
Food Services,
Medical Services,
Substance Abuse Program,
Counseling Program,
Ministry Programs,
Educational Programs offered through
L’Anse Creuse Public Schools,
Community Corrections and
Building Maintenance.
Lieutenant Zimny holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from
Wayne State University. He
is a graduate of the Macomb
Community College Police Academy. He has completed the Michigan Corrections
Academy offered by the
Department of
Corrections. Lieutenant Zimny also has attended numerous
MCOLES Certified Training Seminars/Workshops including Critical Incident
Management.
Lieutenant Zimny’s career in Law Enforcement began in 1987 when hired by the
Macomb County Sheriff’s Office as a
Correctional Officer. He was promoted to
Deputy Sheriff in 1990. Assignments have included
Road Patrol, Identification Bureau and
Youth Services Division Investigator.
As a Ranking Officer, Lieutenant Zimny has worked as
Jail Commander,
Road Patrol Commander, Shift Commander,
Youth Services Division Commander,
Detective Bureau Investigator,
Traffic Division Supervisor,
Training Division Supervisor and most
recently as Administrative Jail Lieutenant.
