Captain Anthony Wickersham was promoted to Chief of Staff June 4, 2007.
As Chief of Staff he acts as 3rd in Command behind the Undersheriff and reviews and coordinates all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.  He replaces Captain Rick Kalm who recently retired after 31 years of service.

Captain Wickersham has been employed at the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office for more than 20 years.  His career began as a Correctional Officer on 01/29/86 until he was promoted to Deputy Sheriff on 01/20/90, and worked out of the Macomb Township Sub-Station.

 He was then transferred to C.O.M.E.T. (Narcotics) until his promotion to Sergeant I on 10/20/94, at which time he worked as the Afternoon Shift Uniform Command Officer and in the Detective Bureau.  On 01/25/97 he was promoted to Sergeant and worked as the Midnight Shift Uniform Command Officer and as the Administrative Sergeant in the Detective Bureau.  He was promoted to Lieutenant on 03/25/00 and worked as the Midnight Shift Uniform Command Officer and as the Detective Bureau Lieutenant.       On 06/23/01, Captain Wickersham was promoted to his current rank of Captain.

Captain Wickersham has specialized training as a Class IIIA Breathalyzer Operator/Instructor, Firearms Instructor and as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator. 

Captain Wickersham’s education consists of an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Macomb Community College.  Captain Wickersham is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. He is currently attending Wayne State University to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
