Lieutenant Paolella began his career on October 28, 1979 as a Correctional
Officer.
He was promoted to Deputy Sheriff in August of 1981 at which time he entered
into the Police Academy at Macomb Community College.
As a Deputy Sheriff, he worked various positions within the Sheriff’s Office,
which included the Road Patrol, Traffic Division, Marine Division, Wayne Macomb
Auto Task Force (WAYMAC), Prisoner Transportation and Evidence Technician.
Lieutenant Paolella was promoted to Sergeant I in 1997. He was assigned to the
Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau where he investigated various crimes and was
the Sheriff’s representative to the County Gun Board.
In August 2000 he was promoted to Sergeant. He remained in the Detective Bureau,
became a Team Leader, coordinated and managed the Sex Offender Program and for a
brief period of time supervised the Evidence Technician Bureau.
In January 2002 he became the Administrative Sergeant within the Detective
Bureau until he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June of 2002.
Commendation: Lieutenant Paolella has received Sheriff’s Office
Departmental Awards as well as awards from the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge
#112.
Education: Lieutenant Paolella is continuing his education through
advanced studies by attending college. He has over 60 seminars directly related
to advanced law enforcement training and has recently received the following
certificates through Macomb Community College: Advanced Police Officer Level I,
Accident Investigator Specialist, Marine Accident Investigator Specialist and
Criminal Investigator Specialists.
