Lieutenant Mark Oermann |
Lt. Oermann currently serves as the Afternoon Shift Commander. In
this position he is responsible for the entire Jail and Road patrol
staff.
Lt. Oermann joined the Sheriff Office in January 1989 as a Correctional
Officer. While working as a Correctional Officer, he gained experience
in the Prisoner Information, Classification bureau, Prisoner Intake and
Work Release areas of the facility.
In January 1992, Lt. Oermann was promoted to Deputy Sheriff. During this
assignment, he was assigned to the Marine Division, Circuit Court,
Prisoner transport divisions. In 1995, he was assigned to the Evidence
Technician Division. In this position, he worked processing Crime
scenes. He attended over 300 hours of additional training related to
this assignment. He has received certificates from Macomb Community
College in Advanced Criminalistic’s and Advanced Police Studies. He was
selected and still serves as a Department Arson Investigator.
January 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant assigned
to the Detective Bureau. During the next seven years, he served in
positions such as Training Division Supervisor, 911 Emergency Dispatch
Coordinator and Transportation Supervisor. He worked as the Youth Bureau
supervisor, which included coordinating the GREAT and DARE programs. His
most recent assignment was to the Professional Standards Division.
Lt. Oermann is actively involved with the Macomb Community Police
Academy.
He currently teaches the Domestic Violence, Nature and Prevalence of
Domestic Violence and Victims Rights segments of the police academy
curriculum. He oversees the Macomb Sheriff Office Motor Unit, and
activity works on the Motor Units as well. He is a Department Hostage
Negotiator, and attended training in this area thought the FBI. He
currently operates and is in charge of the care and maintenance of the
Sheriff Office Mobile Command Unit.
Lt Oermann received his associate degree from Macomb Community College
and currently attends Central Michigan University with a Major in Public
Safety Administration. |
