John Michalke was hired by Sheriff Bill Hackel in May of 1987, and
attended the Basic Police Academy in 1989. He was promoted to Deputy
Sheriff in February of 1990 and spent several years in the Traffic
Division, followed by a short assignment as an Evidence Technician.
In September of 1994, Michalke was promoted to Sergeant 1, and was
assigned to the Detective Bureau. In the ensuing years, he investigated
several high profile crimes, and specialized in the investigation of
fatal car crashes.
In July of 1998 he was promoted to Sergeant, and shortly thereafter was
assigned as a supervisor in the Traffic Division.
Michalke received yet another promotion (to Lieutenant) on October 1,
2000. He has served as the Traffic Lieutenant, Administrative
Lieutenant, Uniform Services Lieutenant and as the Shift Commander on
both the Afternoon and Midnight Shifts.
He is presently assigned as the Commander of the Macomb Auto Theft Squad
(M.A.T.S.), a multi-jurisdictional task force that investigates auto
theft and related insurance fraud.
Education:
Lt. Michalke has attained an Associates Degree (Arts) from Macomb
Community College (1987), a Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State
University (1995), and a Master's Degree (General Administration) from
Central Michigan University (1998). |
