Lieutenant William Donovan
Court Security
Lieutenant Donovan is currently assigned to Circuit Court Security. Prior to
this he was assigned to the Macomb Township
Substation, where his responsibilities included the supervision of the 17 Deputies
assigned to Macomb Township, Liaison to
the Sheriff and his s taff, and the Township Board and Fire Department.
Other duties included establishing and attending Neighborhood Watch, Stranger Danger
and Bicycle Safety Programs, attend K-12 school functions, attend Township Board
meetings to address Citizen and Board member concerns, work with Macomb Township
Parks and Recreation Department with community events.
Lieutenant Donovan began as a Correctional Officer
in 1979 and was promoted
to Deputy Sheriff in 1982. As a Deputy he was assigned to the
Road Patrol,
Traffic Division and
Marine Division. After being promoted to Sergeant I in 1996
he was assigned as the Road Patrol Supervisor and also worked in the
Detective
Bureau.
Promoted to Sergeant in 1998, he was assigned as Marine Division Supervisor
and his current assignment in Macomb Township. He was promoted to Lieutenant in
2001.
Lieutenant Donovan has also worked as a State Certified Boating Safety and
Snowmobile Safety Instructor. He is certified in accident investigations, motor
carrier inspections, ice rescues, firearms instructor, field training officer
and breathalyzer operator. He was also a member of the
SCUBA Dive Rescue Team
and Marine Safety Officer Academy Instructor.
