Macomb County Sheriff's Office MACE Arrests for 2005

Three men arrested by MACE
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is using a Macomb Township home as a purported rendezvous spot to arrest men who think they are going to a sexual encounter with underage girls they met on the Internet.

Sheriff Mark Hackel said Friday that the home, which is less than a mile from his own residence, has been used to make three arrests in the past two weeks.

Child pornography charges (Macomb Daily) 3/17/05
A 23-year-old Warren man was arraigned Wednesday on charges of possessing child pornography, after police said they found the disturbing images on his home computer. James Alexander Duffney was held in lieu of $100,000 cash or surety bond set by 37th District Judge John Chmura. Acting on a tip, officers seized two computers and other equipment from Duffney’s home on Belmont Avenue, near Nine Mile and Hoover roads, last Friday. Investigators with the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement Team initially uncovered a “fair amount” of child pornography on the computers and are searching for more, Warren Detective Sgt. James Matheney said. “We don’t have any evidence he produced or manufactured it,” Matheney said. Duffney faces four counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 29.
